The closures of 2020 brought pervasive change across the globe. For Kota, that change included remote learning during his senior year of high school. Faced with more free time and less interaction with society, Kota began making dog treats for his family and friends. Always one to make the best of a situation, Kota combined his love for dogs and his skill at baking to start Kota’s K-9 Kookies.
Becoming an entrepreneur has given Kota the opportunity to share his product on social media, answer customer questions, receive and fulfill orders, learn business money management, develop relationships with vendors, track inventory, and place product orders. Today you can find him marketing his treats, overseeing the baking, delivering his orders, and coming up with amazing ideas to keep everything about Kota’s K-9 Kookies fresh and exciting!
But for Kota, it is more than filling your pup’s tummy with a tasty treat. All proceeds from Kota’s K-9 Kookies are donated to The Nebraska Humane Society with $3,500 total so far. He also wants to grow into providing job skills/training to his fellow young adult peers. He loves to give back and it shows.
With his ability to make people smile, it is easy to see how he brings out the kindness in others. He says, “Smiling is the universal language of kindness” and his personal motto is Get Your Smile On!
Outside of work, Kota loves everything that is Omaha Lancer Hockey! You can also find him at Monroe-Meyer adding a spark of fun to the camping programs, running the bases with his team at All-Play Baseball field, and being out in the fresh air playing fetch and walking his two pups, Benji and Bella. On his bucket list is a trip to Chicago to see the Blackhawks play and having the opportunity to meet Patrick Kane (#88).
